was quoted Tuesday as saying she will go on her first diet -- to ensure she wins more big parts, Reuters reported. Winslet, a vocal critic of Hollywood in the past for its obsession with thin actresses, said she was worried she would not get major parts without shedding the pounds she put on during her recent pregnancy.
"It's so insane and bloody boring and I despise myself for it, but I am trying to diet," she was quoted as saying by British newspapers, publishing extracts of an interview she gave to the Radio Times magazine.
"I constantly wave the flag of 'Don't go on diets because they're rubbish', but I'd like to get a bit of the baby weight off or I won't work," she said.
"What annoys me most is the more terribly thin and fit actresses we have, the less real our films become, which is sad. Thank God for the British ones. They don't care what shape you are."
The Oscar-nominated actress is currently taking a break from her career to spend time with her daughter Mia who was born last October.
Her most recent film "Quills," a drama about French writer the Marquis de Sade, is due to go on release in Britain later this month.
